CPV

📚Basics

CPV (Cost Per View) is the billing model for YouTube video ads — you pay only when a viewer watches 30+ seconds or clicks.

Aliases: Cost Per View

What it is

CPV (Cost Per View) is the billing model for TrueView skippable video ads on YouTube - you pay only when someone watches 30 seconds of the video (or the whole video if it's shorter) or clicks the ad. The cost per view is calculated by dividing total spend by the number of those qualifying views.

CPV = Ukupna potrošnja ÷ Broj view-ova (30s+)

My take

In my video campaigns a low CPV means nothing on its own - I always read it next to View Rate, because a cheap view that gets abandoned after five seconds isn't worth the same as one watched to the end.

Example

A 120 EUR budget with 10,000 views of 30+ seconds gives a CPV of 0.012 EUR per view - within the range that's typical for the Serbian market (0.004 to 0.013 EUR).
